November After the modest, but significant storm in early November, Copper Mountain and Loveland Ski Area are the first among local ski areas to open more terrain since the season’s opening.
Copper opened the Ptarmigan Trail, accessible by the Excelerator Lift, adding to the Main Vein, Rhapsody, Bouncer Terrain Park and the Easy Rider lift served learning area, said Austyn Williams, spokeswoman for the ski area.
The ski area now has a total of three lifts, five trails and 73 acres of terrain open.
Copper opened Nov. 2 with 42 acres of skiing and riding plus Woodward at Copper’s Eagle Jib Park.
Loveland opened Chair 6 Tuesday, bringing the ski area’s tally to 79 skiable acres with four runs.
At present other ski areas are awaiting more snow while snowmaking operations commence.¬†Snow report for December 10th, 2012. Copper has revived a trace of new snow in the last 24 hours, with 9″ in the last week! Weather forecast for today calls for wintry conditions with high’s in the single digits and moderate winds out of the WNW. Snow is expected to develop as clouds move in with a daytime accumulation of up to 4″.
