7 January 2013. The Grand Prix at Copper is the first stop on the World Cup Tour for 2013. The long road to qualifying for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia has begun. The qualification process for Americans to even compete in the qualifier events next year (2014) is each contender has to have a top thirty result in a World Cup event and also have 80 FIS points. Those who have managed to meet these two criteria are then allowed to compete in the 6 World Cup events in 2014, which determine who will be going to Sochi to represent the USA.
The next stop after Copper Mountain is The North Face Pipe and Park contest in Whistler next week.
